At the Forest Edge

Lone Elk Park in St. Louis County, MO is home to a small herd of elk. This bull is one of them. I am always amazed by the massive racks on these boys, and the icing on the cake is when there are still ropes of velvet hanging from them. I photographed this boy in the late afternoon of a cloudy day, so I decided to put him in a foggy morning with the suggestion of the forest edge, which is where he way laying when I photographed him. I hope you enjoy him. I sure enjoyed painting him.
