The Nurse Mare

During a recent visit to Lexington, KY I was fortunate to visit a number of thoroughbred farms.    This little foal was super affectionate with his "mom".  He didn't care at all that she was a surrogate.  Nearly all of the foals I saw were with their natural mothers, but for some reason, the mother of this little guy was unable or unwilling to be a mother to him, so in steps the nurse mare.  This little mare was equally affectionate with this foal, and she was also very kind to the humans who were visiting them.
